.....but it is not a creative block by any means. It's just that I have a specific design for the front of this holiday mini album and I'm having a hard time getting it to come to fruition.
I have my letters for my title, some ribbon, and a cute tag, but I'm missing an important element. I don't have the chipboard tree from Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding line. I was able to secure the stickers that go with the chipboard at ScrapGal but I can't find the chipboard anywhere....I put out an appeal in the 2peas swap & trade forum. Fingers crossed that someone will come through! For now I'm just going to have to work on the inner pages.

I decided this year I'm going to do a December Daily Album. I have already started to think of what I want to include. I'm looking forward to the process.

....or so it seems. Starbucks has already pulled out their holiday cups and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet.
I'm already anticipating the holiday madness and preparation. I love it. I started to create a holiday album while I was away last weekend. You can see my supply pile here.
And it was truly a "pile"! I had a really eclectic mix of stuff that I planned on using! Here's what I have completed so far

The front (not complete, not even close to how I think I want it to look)

I covered 2 7gypsies cd folders with patterned paper and lined the inside also. I had to be sure to crease the edges well because the cardstock didn't stick at first.
In retrospect, I should have made a template and just used the patterned paper to make the folders.It took a lot of rubbing with the bone folder and extra adhesive to get the flaps to stick.
Here they are completed. They will hold some journaling or some extra photos. I am still scrounging around for product for this album. I recently did a little shopping on 2peas for a friend's birthday. So I took advantage of the free shipping and ordered some of Pink Paislee's Christmas die cuts, stickers and those cool cloth patches. They remind me of the ones my mom ironed on to our pants when we wore holes in the knees!
As you can see, there's a nice eclectic mix going into this album. I'm looking forward to working on it some more this weekend.

I finally got away with my friends for a scrap weekend! It was good to sit down and get some stuff done. I didn't have too much on my "to do" list this time around because I haven't had time to think about projects due to the whirlwind schedule I've had for the past couple of weeks. I took a mini album class with Danielle Flanders. She is a designer for Pink Paislee. The mini album was made with Pink Paislee's Amber Road paper line. I love the earthtones and the vintage look.
The album is truly a "mini" as it was made from die cuts that are about 3"x4". Now I have to be sure I go apple and pumpkin picking next fall so I can put pictures in it!
I started a Christmas album for Kelle. It is a work in progress for sure. Here's the supplies that I gathered and took along to create the album
The supplies are a combination of patterned papers from Basic Grey & Scenic Route, a little Bazzil red and white cardstock, some Maya Rd chipboard letters, some American Crafts ribbon, some Scenic Route rub ons and chip board, and the album is made from the 7gypsies 5x7ring book and cd envelopes.There will probably be more stuff added to the album as I create it, but that's it for now. I'll post periodic pics to show you the progress.

I saw this box on the kitchen table one day last week when I got home from work and just picked it up and put it in my scrap room.
The last thought I had as I put it on a chair was "boy, this is really heavy for a Cocoa Daisy kit"...So fast forward to the weekend and I look at the return address on the shipping label......it's from Scenic Route. I placed an order with them when I got the email that they were closing up shop. I finally got the time to open it tonight (which will make Mandy happy because she's dying to know what I got!). I have to say it was bittersweet. I was glad to see some of my favorite product, but sad to know that this is it. I ordered a lot of Grafton with the plan of making a couple of beach books for myself and a friend who came to the Vineyard with us for the first time this summer.
I just love these bold colors and prints. I ordered some Roxbury for Christmas projects
and a little Salem to have on hand in case I need it. Totally a "just in case" purchase!
I liked these Background patterns, especially the worn grid. It reminds me of school.
And the stickers, rub ons and chipboard were a great buy so I indulged.
Great stuff from Scenic Route as always. I will miss their products alot.

The weather here has been pretty nice.Well, sort of nice. 80 degrees would be ideal for me, but 65 during the day isn't so bad. I'm hoping to take advantage of it tomorrow and get some pictures of the fall foliage before it rains and it all falls to the ground.

I was in a quandry as to how I should alter it. Ruth painted hers and masked a pattern on it. It came out cool. I decided to use paint and some Basic Grey paper on mine.
The paper is from Basic Grey's Boxer line. I have had it in my stash for quite a while. (What a surprise!)
I covered each side after I painted the edges with the Memory Makers paint.
Here's all of the pieces ready for assembly. If you can tell me what's wrong with this picture I'll give you a dollar.........give up?
Notice the 2 sides are facing in the same direction? I didn't realize I put the paper on the same side of both until I went to assemble it. GRRRRRRR! No worries though. A little more painting and a little more sanding and it was fixed.
Here it is all complete. It really is for "mini" albums and not larger albums that you may create. Kaiser should make a larger one! Someone let them know that, ok?
I had a luggage tag from Creative Imaginations that I picked up on clearance at Michaels a while ago. I wasn't sure what I would do with it, but for $1.75 I couldn't pass it up. So here's what I did with it.
I covered it with some K & Co Daydreams paper and then added a picture and some ribbon.
The only problem with this project was that the clear vinyl had a lot of static and attracted all of the dust from my sanding. This little one in the photo is my nephew's daughter. She's quite the funny little Imp! I'm giving this to my sister. She'll love it.

Today is World Card Making Day. I know this because my fellow blogger/friend Sharyn Tormanen has been totally stoked about it for a couple of weeks. She started her career as a stamper and then blossomed to a do it all stamper, scrapbooker, SAHM with a houseful of great sweet kids who totally keep her hopping. She rarely sleeps. It's true. Check out her blog and see for yourself.
Sharyn is teaching a stamping class at Get it Scrapped that starts November 2nd. If you haven't stamped at all or don't have much experience then this is a great class for you to take. I have a significant stamping past that has gone by the wayside for a couple of years.
Yep,it is quite the collection. I think there may be a bit more in the box in my closet too. Guess I should sign up for Sharyn's class and put these to some use! I can tell you that the last time I made a card was probably in January....and it was the Basic Grey Christmas Card kit and did not involve any stamping.

Purging, sorting and finishing a few projects that have been on my desk for eons. I had to finish this little birthday cupcake mini album and send it off to someone. It is long over due!
I used a Maya Rd chipboard album, Making Memories paint and My Mind's Eye patterned papers. I just have to finish sanding the edges and put the chipboard "1" on the front and its done.
I also did this little ornament by covering a creative imaginations blank chipboard star with Basic Grey paper. I almost sealed it and then I realized I have to have the photo for it first! OOPS!
I got this neat little gift from my good friend Ruth. She can't resist a sale! She's too good to me!
I think I'm going to use some of Basic Grey's Ambrosia or Boxer paper to cover it. I'm hoping to work on it tomorrow.

I figure that's a better excuse than the lame "Typepad just sucked my post into cyber oblivion". I'm sure more people can relate to the dog story better.
It probably wasn't Typepad at all. It was probably my computer. I went to edit something and got that wierd blinking hour glass and couldn't edit, so had to do the "control alt delete" technique to make it stop, which it did, then I retrieved my saved post to edit it and the same thing happened again. This time my post wasn't saved. GRRRRRRRRRRR!
